The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy Officially Open!

The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy officially opened on the 9th of December. The first words about the show that come to one’s mind are: elegance, grace, style…

At the beginning of the ceremony cellist Denis Shapovalov played Bach.

Andrei Busygin, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, delivered a welcoming address. Besides, he read off a telegram from Aleksandr Avdeyev, the RF Minister of Culture.

Joseph Tavor from the Israeli Cultural Centre in Russia presented a new work of art of his talented compatriot Avraham-Hersh Borshevsky to the museum. The presents were not over though. Mr. Manohar Desai, calligrapher from India also granted two of his works to the museum.

After the speech by Alexey Shaburov, the project leader and initiator, his business partner Andrei Lapshin welcomed the museum and all the guests. Then the project team stepped on the stage and everyone was able to recall the best moments of the September exhibition watching the film about it.

The opening ceremony was attended by many famous calligraphers. Here is only a fraction of the list of the eminent masters who had come to celebrate the grand opening: Yvgeny Dobrovinsky, Pyotr Chobitko, Yuri Koverdyayev, Nazip Ismagilov, Andrea and Volker Thomas Wunderlich, Manohar Desai, Avraham-Hersh Borshevsky.

Besides, diplomats and journalists also kindly attended the ceremony.

In conclusion, we would like to note that the opening of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy in hard conditions of the world recession proves that people’s desire for beauty and culture is as strong as anything. It is great that the project team headed by Alexey Shaburov remembers the mission of the project set at the very beginning: “to build of a beautiful and healthy society” and does its utmost to bring this idea to life.
