The III International Exhibition of Calligraphy in V. Novgorod was attended by a great number of very important persons. Beside the acknowledged masters of calligraphy from Russia and CIS, arrived under the invitation of Alexey Shaburov, Director of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, world famous calligraphers and painters from other countries also visited the exhibition. Master classes for the locals were held by Georgia Angelopoulos (Canada, Greece), Hassan Makaremi (France, Iran), Kim Jong-Chil (Rep. of Korea), Manohar Vitthal Desai (India), Michel D`Anastasio (France), Karin Bauer (Germany), Borghild Telnes and Bas Vlam (Norway), Yoshida Yoshiko (Japan).

Veliky Novgorod and Novgorod Region top officials saw the Exhibition. Novgorod Mayor Yuri Bobryshev was the first to examine exhibits. He visited the pavilion on September 7, 2010, three days prior to the official opening. Having examined the exhibition and authorized its work he shared his impressions with journalists.

On September 9, Yuri Bobryshev, Mayor of Novgorod; Sergei Mitin, Governor of the Novgorod Region; and His Beatitude Leo, Archbishop of Novgorod and Old Rus' arrived together proceeding at once towards the Yaroslav's Court stationed main exhibition hall in a single rank.

The officials were pleased with the exhibition. The Governor even stayed for a master-class with Pyotr Chobitko, President of the National Union of Calligraphers. Sergei Gerasimov wrote "The Great Novgorod – Motherland of Russia" on a sheet of paper. A day later Governor visited the exhibition once again and gave a thanksgiving diploma to Alexey Shaburov, Project General Manager in the presence of several hundred spectators.

On September 12, when the pavilion nearly finished its work, the exhibition was attended by Valery Gergiev, Artistic Director of the Mariinsky Theatre.

The world renowned conductor came to V. Novgorod for a few hours to lead the concert. But after receiving a catalog of the III International Exhibition of Calligraphy at a press conference maestro decided to visit the event.

He was the last visitor of the exhibition in the Russian Federation. Later that day, Valery Gergiev was welcoming Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the Mariinsky Theatre.

The III International Exhibition of Calligraphy completes its work in Russia in triumph. In 2011 we are going to conquer Europe!
