Novgorod citizens will see the Holy Mantra
The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy management got the consent of Aleksandr Koibagarov, President of the Russian Association of Karma Kagyu Buddhist School to include the Holy Mantra into the exposition of the III International Exhibition of Calligraphy to be held on September 10-12, 2010 in Veliky Novgorod.
The Holy MantraAccording to the ancient Indian religious tradition a mantra is a combination of fundamental universe sounds, a magic verbal formula of communication with Gods expressed in the form of a rhyme or an incantation.
The Mantra that will be shown to Novgorod citizens is called “Karmapa Chenno”. It means “the activity of all Buddhas, act through me”. This is one of the most famous holy mantras of Tibet. Since the VIII century all rupestrian mantras make part of the Tibetan calligraphic tradition. They decorate all holy places, avenues of approach to monasteries, temples, and stupas.
Aleksandr Koibagarov, President of the Russian Association of Karma Kagyu Buddhist School “Karmapa Chenno” was created in July 2009 by the famous German craftsman Sven Plamper. A year ago the Mantra was brought from Stuttgart to Moscow to be exhibited at the Ecocenter Sokolniki Museum-Educational Complex as part of the II International Exhibition of Calligraphy. Veliky Novgorod will be the second city to display this unique masterpiece of the contemporary calligraphy.
