New acquisitions of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy
The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy’s exposition was recently complemented by the works of famous calligraphers. First of all, nine calligraphy works by Salavat Gilyazetdinov were deposited to our Museum, including the Epistle and Wanderer’s Prayer, made with oil paint on hand-made fabric paper, as well as the paintings from the 100 Beautiful Names series written with gouache.
Well, now we have the immortal lines by William Shakespeare. Yelena Epstein-Orlova has donated to the Museum the 2nd and 5th sonnets of the great poet made on colored paper. She also gave us her I Will Be Missing You art work.
One more unusual piece to enhance our collection is a reprint of the Kiev Psalter, 1397. But the most significant arrival was a collection of 26 works by Ilya Bogdesko, an outstanding artist, calligrapher, People′s Artist of USSR, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. Among his works are two books: “The Purse a'Tuppence” and “Meşterul Manole”.
