Master Chobitko Brings Calligraphy to the Tallinn Russian Museum

This Saturday the Tallinn Russian Museum will introduce adults and children to the world of calligraphy. You will have a unique opportunity to learn more about traditional Russian writing styles and to enroll into the National School of Calligraphy.

Meeting Russian Calligraphy is aimed to urge people to take up pens and brushes and do a few handwriting drills forming their first calligraphic letters and words.

Pyotr Chobitko, Professor of the Repin State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture of St. Petersburg, member of the Union of Artists of Russia, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Union of Calligraphers, Founder and Headmaster of From Az To Izhitsa, Russia’s first Saint-Petersburg calligraphy school.

Pyotr Chobitko studied at the Tallinn State Institute of Fine Arts under the guidance of such eminent instructors as Paul Luhtein and Villu Toots.

Tatyana Yakovleva, a calligraphy teacher will brief the audience on the first-year curriculum and conduct a free open class featuring calligraphic exercises involving pen and ink for children and adults alike.

Meeting Russian Calligraphy is scheduled for October 5th, the Tallinn Russian Museum from 03.00 pm to 05.00 pm. Entrance free of charge.
