ACWF Holds Exhibition of Artworks by Retired Cadres
An art exhibition showcasing the calligraphy, painting and handicraft artworks made by retired cadres of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) opened on October 15, 2013, at the Seniors' Home of ACWF, to welcome the upcoming 11th National Women's Congress.
More than 300 artworks by 97 retired cadres were showcased. The oldest artist is 90 years old.
The exhibition, titled 'Chinese Dream • Women's Passion', was organized by the ACWF Bureau of Retired Personnel, Seniors' Calligraphy And Painting Research Association of ACWF and Institute of Arts and Crafts of the Elderly.
Vice President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF Chen Xiurong attended the opening ceremony and made a speech in which she said that the exhibition reflects the retired cadres' persistence and passion for women's work.
President of the ACWF Shen Yueyue and Vice President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF Song Xiuyan visited the exhibition separately on October 15, 2013, and October 16, 2013.
Shen was full of praise for the artworks and encouraged the retired cadres to keep on creating art and enjoying their twilight years. Song said she enjoyed the exhibition very much and discussed painting and calligraphy techniques with the artists.
The ACWF leadership attaches great importance to the well-being of retired cadres, including their political, spiritual and daily living needs.
The 11th National Women's Congress will be held from October 28-31, 2013 in Beijing.
