Biography

Zhang Jiancai

Board member of Chinese Calligraphers Association, Deputy Chairman of the Calligraphers Association in Henan province, caoshu committee manager.

Zhang Jiancai was born in 1962 in Henan province. In the 1980s he studied under the guidance of Zhang Hai, focusing on xingshu and caoshu styles. His artworks have been repeatedly exhibited in China and other countries. Award winner for an outstanding xingshu and caoshu artwork at the 1st Chinese National Exhibition of Calligraphy, xingshu artwork at the 1st Grand Chinese National Exhibition of Calligraphy, silver medal at the 2nd Chinese National Calligraphy Contest on TV, golden medal at the 4th exhibition “Calligraphy of the Central Valley,” and many more. Zhang Jiancai’s artworks can be found in the collections of the National Art Museum of China, Calligraphy Museum of China, government residences Zhong Nan Hai and Diaoyutai, and other institutions. He also authored numerous publications, such as “Zhang Jiancai’s Collection of Calligraphy Artworks,” “Scrolls of Renowned Chinese Calligraphers – Artworks by Zhang Jiancai,” and others.
