Biography

Su Shishu

Deputy Head of the Calligraphy and Painting School at the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association

Born in 1949 in Beijing, Su Shishu was elected as the Chairman of the 7th convocation of Chinese Calligraphers Association, and the honoured member of the 10th convocation of Chinese National Association of Writers and Artists. He took interest in calligraphy in childhood, and then studied under the guidance of Liu Boqin as a teenager, and Qi Dong at a mature age. For many years, he had been editing old Chinese calligraphy reprints, doing calligraphy and seal carving in between. Su Shishu focuses on zhuangshu and lishu styles. Former manager of a publishing house at the State Committee for Cultural Heritage Protection, Deputy Chairman of the Association of Central Authority Calligraphers, board member of Chinese Calligraphers Association, Deputy Head of Chinese Foundation for Protection of Cultural Relics, Head of Chinese Association of Calligraphy and Painting Collectors, member of the evaluation committee at Chinese Calligraphers Association, and senior consultant of online storage for Chinese artworks.
