The world famous master of calligraphy Bahman Panahi visited the World Calligraphy Museum and the Museum of Russian Gusli and Chinese Guqin in Sokolniki

On February 23, the world-famous Iranian artist, calligrapher and musician Bakhman Panahi was a guest of the Sokolniki Museum and Educational Complex. Since early years, surrounded by rich culture and Persian artistic traditions, he discovered a craving for calligraphy and music as a child and soon combined these two directions into one. To describe his work, the artist invented the term “musicalligraphy”, encompassing visual abstraction, calligraphy and music. In his works the master explores the intersection points of these three types of art.

During his visit, Mr. Panahi got acquainted with the unique exposition of the Museum of the World Calligraphy Museum, where his calligraphic masterpieces are presented, especially singling out the handmade book of “Hafiz Shirazi. Forty Poems. ” This is a collection of ghazals of one of the greatest lyricists of the world literature, the Persian poet Hafiz Shirazi, the handwritten text of which he worked on.

After visiting the World Calligraphy Museum, the distinguished guest was invited to the recently opened Museum of Russian Gusli and Chinese Guqin, which is one of a kind in the world. Bahman Panahi played the helmet-shaped and lyre-shaped guslis, spoke about the Northern Iranian tradition of playing musical instruments and offered cooperation in the framework of the project “Music and Calligraphy”.
