Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy gave tour and workshop for children

The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy is particularly welcoming when attended by young students, as for them seeing the beauty of the letters and acknowledging the value of nice and clear handwriting is vitally important. On November 15, the museum gave a tour and a workshop for the 1st grade students. Supervised by a calligraphy expert, they had a trip to the world of proper letters with pen and ink, and also made a calligraphy card as a souvenir to remember the event. The tour introduced various scripts, tools, and materials used in calligraphy. Birch bark and miniature artworks proved to be particularly impressive, as well as Barbara Galinska's “Cat and Mouse,” with Sergey Mikhalkov’s poem elegantly embedded into a silhouette of a playful black kitten. The tour ended with calligraphy class certificates awarded to the children, and granted an invaluable attitude to ensure the penmanship efforts will become even harder! And who knows, we may well see the artworks made by these young visitors in our museum in the years to come…
