The winter sports season in Ryazan started at the skating rink “Our Orekhovo”
On December 25, 2021, the winter sports season was officially opened at the ice rink “Our Orekhovo” in the village of Orekovo, Spassky district, Ryazan region.
Despite the winter weather, the event attracted many visitors, not only local citizens but also people from other districts who came specially for the event.
The first act at the mirror-like ice rink was the figure skating performance of the athletes from the State Autonomous Institution of the Ryazan Region “Iceberg Sports School”. The coaches of the school commended the quality of ice, and all visitors were impressed by the skills of the young skaters.
The main event of the day was a hockey match between the Amateur hockey teams of the village of Izhevskoye and the city of Spassk-Ryazansky for the “Our Orekhovo” Cup. Special guests, famous Soviet hockey players, such as goalkeeper, Master of Sports of the USSR Sergey Nikolaevich Babariko, Olympic champion Sergey Alexandrovich Svetlov, Master of Sports, forward Evgeny Shtepa, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, and defender Vasily Alekseevich Pervukhin contributed greatly to organizing and conducting the match, and after the game, they held a workshop and shared secrets of champions.
The event program also included the cold steel exhibition “Blade. Tradition and Modernity” and the calligraphy workshop “First Attempt” by Yury Arutsev Original School “Russian Calligraphy and Ligature” from Yaroslavl. The event ended with a fireworks display.
Deputy Minister for Territorial Affairs and Information Policy of the Ryazan Region Ivan Ushakov and the local administration appreciated the organization of the event and its significance for further development of Orekovo in particular and the Ryazan region in general.
