The display of Islamic traditional art of calligraphy is being arranged to coincide with the Holy month of Ramadan with the portrayal of true spirit of Islam, Divine peace, love, kindness and harmony for all human beings.

The National Exhibition of Calligraphy is arranged every year by PNCA as a tradition, initiated by Sadequain during the month of Ramadan. He used to launch his exhibition of new works based on Islamic calligraphy on the 27th day of Ramadan which attracted multitudes from every strata of society. The PNCA will give awards to the participating artists and pay tributes to the works of legendary artists.

After Sadequain, the National Art Gallery, PNCA continued with the tradition. The exhibition invites artists from all over Pakistan to display the works of master painters and calligraphers to acknowledge their contribution towards the promotion of calligraphy. The depiction represents work in both genres, traditional and contemporary. Young female artists and calligraphers have also submitted their works in huge number. They are mostly practicing in traditional expression under the guidance of their teachers, eminent calligraphers.

Such programmes during Ramadan are the regular feature of PNCA. Calligraphy is a great Muslim heritage which needs to be preserved and promoted among the young generation, said the organizers.
