A Buddhist Monk Brings His Spiritual World to Vladivostok

Su Ang’s Spiritual World exhibition has opened at the Primorye Art Gallery in Vladivostok. The world renowned master of line drawing also conducted a master-class in the krai centre.

Su Ang Wong is a famous South Korean artist exhibiting in Moscow, Paris, and other big cities of the world. Su Ang was converted into Buddhism at the age of seventeen and he studied at several monasteries. Twenty-two years later a terrible accident, a train explosion at the Iri Station in the town of Iksan harvested many innocent lives. In order to show moral support for the victims, Su Ang suggested opening a collective exhibition in the city of Busan revealing line drawing to the world.

The monk has been holding his exhibitions in various cities across the world ever since. Currently, he is in the limelight and widely recognized at home and abroad.

After the press-conference on the opening ceremony of the Vladivostok exhibition, the monk conducted a master-class on line drawing.

«In this kind of art it is essential to know a lot of poetry and to have an excellent command of calligraphy,» the master explained.

Holding the brush with his right fist, Su Ang wrote emotions using simple, clear, and cheerful colours, each time leaving a part of his soul.

The exhibition will be on at Primorue Art Gallery (12, Aleutskaya ulitsa) till October 13th.
