The project is designed to promote the art of calligraphy from the two old cultures, unlocking unique national writing. The artworks by renowned artists embed traditions and history, and speak of love to the country and the mother tongue. Outstanding calligraphy masterpieces demonstrate how significant it is to preserve writing for the future generations.
“Calligraphy is the soul of the Chinese people and the ancient civilization,” said Vyacheslav Nikonov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science in his welcoming speech at the opening ceremony of the Great Russian and Chinese Calligraphy exhibition, which took place in the State Duma on May 28.

The exhibition features 20 artworks by leading Russian and Chinese artists, including some unique exhibits such as the Handwritten Constitution of the Russian Federation created by a group of calligraphers and publishers led by Petr Chobitko, Chairman of Presidium of the National Union of Calligraphers, or “Sincerity is a Hero’s True Face” presented by the author himself – Zhang Huaqing, Chairman of Chinese Calligraphy Association “Sharp-pointed Nibs.” In addition the exhibit includes selected artworks by top members from Shanghai Calligraphy Association
