Korean Calligraphy Dedicated to Pushkin and Tsoi on Display in Sokolniki
On March 15th, 2013, the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, Sokolniki Park will launch the Oriental Calligraphy exhibition, dominated by masterpieces by Kim Jong Chil, participant in many international projects, including the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, prize-winner of South Korean national contests, international jury board member.
The master will personally attend the opening ceremony, conducting an exclusive workshop.
“In his art Kim Jong Chil creates a blend of Russian and Korean letters quoting Alexander Pushkin and Leo Tolstoy. These works, dedicated to the unsurpassed artists of the Word, will also be available in Sokolniki. Russian writing reminds Mr. Chil of a song. The Korean master believes the Russian language, like no other, abounds in ideas worth depicting,” says Sokolniki’s press release.
Above all, the visitors will see a chef d’oeuvre dedicated to Viktor Tsoi, a legendary Russian bard.
Apart from the large Korean section, the exhibition will also feature chefs d’oeuvre from other oriental countries – China, Japan, and Mongolia.
