Barbara Calzolari, the calligrapher of Pope Benedictus XVI, has consented to attend the opening ceremony of the II International Exhibition OF Calligraphy by invitation of Alexey Shaburov, Director of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy.

Barbara Calzolari is a well-known person in the Italian fashion-industry. She is working with Pirelli, Ferrari and Ferrero. Barbara works with Massimo Osti from the StoneIsland and C.P. Company, Danielle di Montezemolo, Ferrante Gonzaga and other gurus of the fashion world. She regularly attends international calligraphy conventions, where she has met and worked alongside Pat Blair, current calligrapher for the White House. In 2009 Barbara was called to make a special gift at the G8 summit. She wrote and illuminated the national anthems of the countries represented at G8, presented to Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation, Barack Obama, President of the USA, Nicolas Sarkozy, President of France, Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, Gordon Braun, Great Britain’s Prime Minister, Jose Manuel Barroso President of the European Commission, and many others.

Besides, Barbara is a member of the world-known calligraphy associations. At present she is finishing her book about Catherine de’Medici. Moscow will be hosting Barbara Calzolari for quite a long time: from October 12 to 18. She is going to perform at the opening ceremony of the II International Exhibition of Calligraphy, show her masterpieces and conduct some workshops.
