Russian television grows more interested in calligraphy

A video report for an episode of the “I Want to Know Everything!” TV programme was shot at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. The shooting is produced by the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) by order of the RF Ministry of Culture. The episode will be broadcasted by VGTRK members: Russia 1 TV Channel, Kultura (Culture) TV channel, Children Channel (Bibigon) and RTR Planet TV channel. As the 2009 exhibition showed, the interest for calligraphy in Russia is increasing rapidly. The TV viewers send letters to the TV channels asking to show more films about calligraphy.

The TV crew spent a few hours in the museum shooting some unique exhibits and interior. A Moscow calligrapher Yuri Koverdyayev, participant of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, arrived at the museum to participate in TV shooting. The graphic artist demonstrated outstanding art skills and fascinated the guests with a variety of writing styles. The VGTRK team were satisfied with the footage and promised to make an exciting TV package as well as to go on a tour with no cameras.
