Calligraphy helps residents of Tokyo
The art of calligraphy is intended to help the Japanese to gain strength in the turmoil of emergency stricken Tokyo. As it is well known, a series of events involving major Japanese calligraphers is planned for the near future in Russia. Thus, on March 29 and 30 Moscow’s Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy hosts the Days of Japanese Culture where the great masters Sashida Takefusa and Hirose Shoko will show their skills in the art of writing, playing Koto instruments and creating. And on March 31 the Smolny Cathedral in St. Petersburg will host an exhibition of the leading Japanese artists. The exhibition will feature works in various areas: calligraphy, painting, photography, engraving, sculpture, applied arts, Japanese poetry, haiku and tanka. Reports from the opening of the exhibition will be broadcasted in Tokyo and some other cities in Japan. According to organizers, this event will help the people of Japan to recover from heavy losses, as calligraphy is a very important place in the life of every Japanese.
