Citizens of Khabarovsk will learn about the arts of calligraphy, ikebana and origami
The 2nd edition of the Japanese Culture Festival will be held in Khabarovsk on July 18th, 2015. Locals will have a chance to enjoy a unique atmosphere of Chinese festivities and to learn the arts of ikebana, calligraphy and origami.
The event is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the twin-city relations between Khabarovsk and Niigata.
The celebrations will take place in Muravyov-Amursky city park and within the premises of Grodekov’s Khabarovsk Local History Museum. Local citizens and visitors of the city will see a presentation of the versatile and authentic culture of the Land of the Rising Sun.
Attendees of the festival will have an opportunity to learn about the Japanese language and writing, folklore and literature, to try their hand at the arts of calligraphy and origami, ikebana, temari, and kumihimo. There will also be a presentation of Japanese music, cinema, anime and manga, national clothes and armour, traditional martial arts, and modern combat sports. Japanologists will also give a lecture on national Japanese cuisine, traditions and ceremonies, and popular national games of skill.
The festivities start at noon.
