Moscow will open the first Russian “Contemporary museum of calligraphy”

The first Russian museum of art writing – Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy is to open on the territory of Sokolniki park on Friday, – said the project organizers. Such museums with constant expositions of calligraphy works exist all over the world, for instance, in Turkey, China, Japan, UAE, while Russia has no analogues.

The range of exhibits includes Slavonic and European writing, national and foreign books on calligraphy, rare patterns of hand-writing books issued in small circulations, writing instruments of the past and the present, samples of Hebrew calligraphy school.

Over 80 beautifully designed works presented by the calligraphers from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Germany, France, Israel, Syria, USA, Japan, China and many other countries lay the ground for the museum exposition. They are all the living examples of art pieces, absorbing experience of many generations of masters, and long-lasting writing traditions.
The visitors will have a chance to see the works painted by the students of many renown calligraphers, the young people who just start their career in art adopting craftsmanship of their teachers.
