The Handwritten Constitution

On Thursday, September 11th at 12 pm the press centre of AiF newspaper (42 Myasnitskaya Str., metro stations: Turgevevskaya, Chistye Prudi, Sretensky Boulevard) will welcome a press-conference on the subject:

PRESENTATION OF THE HANDWRITTEN CONSTITUTION OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE INTERNATIOANL EXHIBITION OF CALLIGRAPHY.

The participants of the press-conference:

- Andrei E. BUSYGHIN – Deputy Minister of culture of the Russian Federation;

- Petr P. CHOBITKO – Chairman of the Presidium of the National Union of Calligraphers, member of the Russian Union of Artists;

- Alexey Yu. SHABUROV – head of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, director of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy;

- Nikolai N. Taranov – DSc (education), PhD (arts), Professor, member of the Russian Union of Artists;

- CHEN WEN FU – calligrapher from China, member of the Chinese scientific union of paired signs, continuator of the great dynasty of Chinese calligraphers;

- Alexander K. KVASNIKOV – Deputy Director General of MEC Sokolniki.

The first handwritten Constitution is being designed in the framework of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy which will take place in St. Petersburg from September 16th-21st. This unique project prepared by the National Union of Calligraphers and the Rare book from St. Petersburg, publishing house promises to become a valuable symbol of restoration of Russia and be preserved for the ages.

The cultural significance of the project was highlighted in the letters of the Department of Contemporary Art and International Cultural Relations of the Ministry of the Russian Federation and Committee for Science and Higher Education and Committee for Press and Mass Media Cooperation of St. Petersburg. The mission of the project: forming a beautiful and healthy society. The aim of the project: revive the abandoned art of calligraphy in Russia, make it widely available and create conditions for its development.

The exhibition will showcase the works of prominent calligraphers from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine and foreign schools of calligraphy from Europe, the USA, Israel, China, Japan and other countries. The framework of the exhibition will include master classes of Russian and foreign calligraphers who will give lessons of beautiful handwriting to the schoolchildren and students, and professionals will be able to attend lectures, panel sessions, seminars and calligraphic performances. The first handwritten Constitution of the Russian Federation will be presented.
