The world’s largest calligraphy exhibition in Moscow

The exposition will unfold inside a unique ultra-modern mobile pavilion (Exhibit Hall 7a) and inside Exhibit Hall 17 on Sokolniki ECC premises. Moreover, the permanent exposition of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy (Exhibit Hall 7) will also be available within the framework of the exhibition. The total exhibition area amounts to five thousand square metres.

The event has provoked huge interest both in the cultural environment and in mass media. The exhibition will include works by world-renowned masters of calligraphy. The geography of the project has also considerably expanded. Visitors will see masterpieces of calligraphy from over thirty countries, such as: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Israel, USA, Japan, China, France, Italy, Germany, Australia, Brazil, etc. Among the guests of the show expected are representatives of cultural centres, museums, education centres, embassies, businessmen, collectors, art experts, and critics.

Within the framework of the exhibition a World Famous Mezuzah, a recent acquisition of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, the only chef d’oeuvre of sacred Hebrew calligraphy listed into the Guinness World Records, executed on parchment by Avraham Borshevsky, a famous calligrapher of Jerusalem, will strike awe into the spectators.
Besides paintings and rare manuscripts the display can boast applied calligraphy items, writing utensils and materials. Special attention will be paid to themed zones portraying the culture of the writing of various nations, states, and religions. In particular, the organizers will present a collection of masterpieces of sacred calligraphy. A vast business programme (master-classes and a Holy Scripture in Calligraphy Contest) will be available for all those whose passion is calligraphy.

The exhibition is held under the auspices of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO and the RF Ministry of Culture.
