The 2nd International Exhibition of Calligraphy

The beauty of man is in the beauty of his handwriting.

From October 14th to November 14th, 2009 Moscow is hosting a unique cultural event for the first time ever.

The exposition will unfold inside a unique ultra-modern mobile pavilion on Sokolniki ECC premises.

The exhibition space will cover 4 000 square meters.

The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy and the National Union of Calligraphers are organizers of the event.

The project’s mission is to form a beautiful and healthy society.

The project’s goal is to show the cultural and educational role of calligraphy in the spiritual development of personality.

Besides the original works of artists from over thirty countries visitors will see calligraphy installations, performances, rare manuscripts and letters, applied calligraphy items. Special attention will be paid to themed zones portraying the culture of writing of various nations, states, and religions. In particular, the organizers will present a collection of masterpieces of sacred calligraphy.

Calligraphers from different parts of the world will show their proficiency in master-classes.

A programme of the art exhibition also features a Holy Scripture in Calligraphy Contest, cultural events and meetings.

The only chef d’oeuvre of sacred Hebrew calligraphy listed into the Guinness World Records, will become a huge surprise for the connoisseurs of fine arts. This sacred artefact has never been exhibited before outside of Jerusalem.

The exhibition is held under the auspices of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO and the RF Ministry of Culture.

It has also been approved by the Russian Orthodox Church, the Chief Rabbinate of Russia, the Mufti Council of Russia, and Russia’s Buddhist organizations. All this emphasizes the prominent role of the project in the preservation of world cultural heritage.
