St. Petersburg is to host the International Exhibition of Calligraphy
It is like the same old aphorism: “everything new is just the well-forgotten old.” The International Exhibition of Calligraphy will be held in St. Petersburg, from September 16th — 21st. It is dedicated to the nicety of ancient art of writing, which was forgotten for a very long period of time. It is undoubted that the exhibition will excite the curiosity of both experts in calligraphy and its amateurs.
Everyone is welcomed to the halls of I.E. Repin State Academic Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture to examine works of calligraphers from all over the world, the amazing masterpieces of masters who dedicated their lives to the art of beautiful writing. Visitors will be impressed with the exposition which includes historical manuscripts' samples of different ages. The organizers are planning to deliver a series of master classes by the most prominent and distinct calligraphers and a set of lectures with a hands-on learning activity both for adults and kids.
Within the framework of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, the first handwritten copy of the Constitution of the Russian Federation will be presented to the general public on September 17th at 2.00 pm. This is a truly unique and unsurpassed project initiated and jointly organized by the National Union of Calligraphers and the Rare Book of Saint-Petersburg Publishing House.
The International Exhibition of Calligraphy will become a real marquee event in the cultural sphere of Russia, having united aesthetic and spirituality so everyone was able to see the riches of world culture history. One of the exhibition's mottos: “Calligraphy is the art of excellence.”
