Calligraphers from all over the world will gather in Veliky Novgorod

From September 10–12, renowned masters of lettering from all over the world will gather at the 3rd International Exhibition of Calligraphy in Veliky Novgorod.

Exhibits from forty countries including calligraphic paintings, items of applied calligraphy, writing utensils and materials, unique masterpieces (the Golden Koran, the Decalogue, the Sacred Mantra, a World Famous Mezuzah, etc.) comprising the core of the Sacred Calligraphy Collection will be available on display.

The venue was not chosen by chance, as Veliky Novgorod has been the keeper of a thousand-year Russian culture and the ancient Orthodox center.

The International Exhibition of Calligraphy is the world's largest project on the culture of writing and writing as an art. Since 2009, the project has been implemented under the auspices of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO.

Russia’s first International Exhibition of Calligraphy was held in St. Petersburg in September 2008 and the second one in Moscow from October–November 2009. Within one year, the number of visitors had doubled and amounted to about thirty thousand people according to Interfax.
