Changes in the National School of Calligraphy course programme

Dear friends!

In March the study programme of the National School of Calligraphy will change. By popular demand to have access to a more in depth study and practice of historical scripts, the programme of the Second level (broad-end pen) will be divided into two independent courses: Western calligraphy and Uncial and Slavic scripts.

The programmes of the Second level feature:

Western calligraphy

  • Antiqua. The classic Roman writing style.
  • Gothic scripts (Textura, Fraktur and Gothic Capitals)
  • Rustic script
  • Final work. Creating artistic compositions using studied studied fonts

Uncial and Slavic scripts

  • Uncial script
  • Cyrillic uncial script
  • Cyrillic semi-uncial script
  • Ornamental script
  • Final work. Creating a title page design for a historical book

This spring, students of the Second level will begin studying  Western calligraphy scripts. We invite our students who have studied any of the courses at our school and everyone who feels like studying European calligraphic scripts to join this specialized course.
