The V. Popov Exhibition opened in Kazan
The exhibition of Vladimir Popov dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the artist opened in the Galiaskar Kamal Tatar Academic Theatre on May 7th, 2014.
The exposition features twenty six artworks: shamail, tughras, calligraphic composition. The calligraphy of Vladimir Popov is considered contemporary. He has mastered the art of beautiful writing.
— «There are several signs that define beautiful handwriting, including: precision, thoroughness, accuracy, brightness of the composition, harmony of light combinations. Vladimir’s artworks include all of this,» — Rauza Sultanova admitted.
— «The compositions created by Vladimir Popov are very interesting. He is not a classic calligrapher. He creates unique designs from fonts, brings into them beautiful meaning using ayah and statements from the Quran. There is a rhythm felt in his artwork and it brings a special beauty in it. When making tughras for somebody Vladimir Popov transfers this person’s character through the Arabic fonts he uses. I find this overwhelming,» — Najip Nakkash remarked.
