Iranian art achieves high records at London’s Bonhams

Various Iranian art pieces have fetched high prices at Bonhams sale of Islamic and Indian Art in the British capital, London.

Hossein Zenderoudi’s acrylic work on canvas fetched £158,500 while the Iranian artist Mohammad Ehsaei’s calligraphic painting was sold for £92,500.

Acclaimed Iranian artist Farhad Moshiri’s unique work fetched £72,100. The art piece is a blend of wooden panels, doors, books, textile fragments and oil paintings on a board.

Parviz Tanavoli, Aidin Aghdashlou, Abbas Kiarostami, Ali Shirazi, Nasrollah Afjei and Ardeshir Mohasses were among the other Iranian artists whose works went under the hammer at the auction held on April 8th.

Founded in 1793, Bonhams is one of the world's oldest and largest auctioneers of fine art and antiques, which has a global network of offices and regional representatives in 25 countries offering sales advice and valuation services in 50 specialty areas.

The Islamic and Indian Art department of the auction holds two sales a year covering a wide range of art and artifacts dating from the 9th to the 19th centuries.
