Calligraphy and penmanship is to be taught in Volgodonsk schools

The best remedy for fools and digital dementia, and this concept could not be truer in the age of computer technology, was found long ago and it is calligraphy and penmanship. In developed countries, it is an integral part of any curriculum. In Russia, unfortunately, the art of calligraphy has fallen into oblivion. In Volgodonsk, however, they plan to revive the forgotten craft. Many city schools supported this initiative and the city’s authorities imbued with the idea too. Today at the Round Table in the Rainbow arts and crafts club these plans have also been discussed.

Today in Volgodonsk, it is planned to have calligraphy become a compulsory subject in primary schools. The initiative was supported literally at all levels.

Several schools have already volunteered to teach their students calligraphy and penmanship. Some even held their first master classes.

The level of hype around the initiative was with good reason. In some countries, calligraphy is called the fifth martial art and scientists have long proved its healing properties. Calligraphy is found to be the best means of treating digital dementia, different types of addiction, hyperactivity and a number of abnormalities in children. In addition, experience has shown that this forgotten art can awaken creative abilities in human beings, their potential and help them find their true calling and place in life.

The participants suggested to name the new project: Living Letter. Already, by April 15th there will be a working group acting to put the ideas into action Volgodonsk. In May, the outcome of this work will be announced. But with such enthusiasm and support from all levels there is no doubt that in the next academic year, primary school pupils in Volgodonsk will spend a few hours a week devoting themselves to the long forgotten ink and pen. This practice of the city will be a good example and they will be a role model, not only for the Rostov region, but also for the whole of Russia.
