A calligraphy master from Korea has his exhibition opening at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy

The official opening ceremony of the exhibition by a great Korean calligraphy master Kim Jong Chil will take place on April 3rd, 2014.

The calligraphy artist will personally present at the official opening of the project and will hold a master-class within the context of the event. Kim Jong Chil is one of the most renowned Korean masters. He took part in many international exhibitions including the International Exhibition of Calligraphy; he is a prize-winner of national competitions, a chairman of judges of many international projects.

Kim Jong Chil has visited Russia several times and held master-classes. His personal exhibition was held at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy in March of 2013.

The exhibition to be held from April 3rd — 20th, 2014 will showcase new works as well as some vessels, which the master executed from paper. The master will bring his new works to the exhibition of 2014 which have never been exhibited in Russia before. These masterpieces reflect the essence of Korean culture through the unique genre portraying traditional vessels that symbolize the culture of food taken with the Korean alphabet, also known as «Hangul». They express the originality of Korean culture through calligraphy and Korean paper «Hanji». The master aims to demonstrate the incredible qualities of pitchers, where fermentation immediately starts and products stay fresh for a long period of time. All the items are made in natural drab colours. These are masterpieces to provoke the warmth of a living art.

The official opening ceremony for official people and media will take place on April 3rd, at 3 pm. After 5 pm the exhibition will be opened for visitors. Kim Jong Chil will hold an exclusive master-class for the museum’s visitors on April 6th (from 2 pm to 4 pm). The master-class will cost 300 rubles. The disabled and veterans are free of charge. The admission to the exhibition — 150 rubles; the admission for children, students, museum workers and teachers — 100 rubles; the admission for people with disabilities, retirees, veterans and children up to 7 years is free of charge.

The event will be held with the support of the Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Russia.
