A calligraphy contest held in the Primorye

Calligraphy, beautiful handwriting in Greek, is perceived as a skill of beautiful and legible handwriting and is considered to be a form of arts in Asian and other cultures.

About two thousand students and schoolchildren of the Primorye have been competing in the art of calligraphy during the month. The contest organized by the Confucius Institute of the Far Eastern Federal University, with the support of the headquarters of the Confucius Institutes located in China and Vladivostok branch of Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Khabarovsk, Vladivostok branch office, ended on December 10th. After the results are announced, the winners will be awarded at a ceremony which is to be held in the Far Eastern Federal University on December 17th.

The history of Chinese Calligraphy is several millennia old. This art is one of the most important cultural phenomena of China along with the national painting, poetry, music and dance traditions. UNESCO included brush calligraphy into the Intangible World Heritage List.
