St. Petersburgers Worldwide Club supported Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting exhibition

The 7th International Cultural Forum, held in Saint Petersburg on November 15-17, saw the St. Petersburgers Worldwide Club as a cultural dominant of the city, and the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, a member of the Union of Museums of Russia, taking the most active part.

A comprehensive event, held on the opening day of November 15 in the official hotel of the State Hermitage, included a business talk, a magnificent show of Sergey Stadler, the People's Artist of Russia, and a unique and unforgettable fashion show by renowned Vyacheslav Zaytsev, named The Art in the Space of Fashion. The Director of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, Alexey Shaburov, attended the event among the other guests of honour.

The round table, focused on the preservation of the cultural heritage, led by I. Uralov, the Distinguished Artist of the Russian Federation, laureate of the Russian State Award, a member of the St. Petersburgers Worldwide Club and Professor in Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, gathered well known architects, cultural historians and art restorers – namely, all those committed to preserving the national assets, public culture and the aesthetics of the urban environment. The key issue was education and cultural environment in the modern society.

The Director of the State Hermitage, Mikhail Piotrovsky, spoke at the Museums and Exhibition Projects section and focused on the cultural legislation, which ignores to a large extent the interests of museums. According to the experts, the cultural diplomacy grows more significant every year, and the forum matters not only for professionals of culture. The culture has its rights, and they are equally important as human rights are, said Piotrovsky at the general assembly of the Union of Museums of Russia at the forum.

Following the business agenda, Mikhail Piotrovsky traditionally opened a gala assembly in the official hotel of the State Hermitage. The Club's Chairman, V. Orlova, congratulated the meeting upon the new season and presented the books published in the St. Petersburgers Worldwide Club's library.

The assembly gave an opportunity to establish business network and discuss forthcoming projects. Led by Piotrovsky for over 25 years now, St. Petersburgers Worldwide Club supported the projects of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy on numerous occasions. The Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting exhibition, scheduled for September 20-22, 2019 in Moscow, is no exception – the Club’s President will officially support the event. Moreover, representatives of the Club will attend the official project presentation on December 14 in the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. As international connections evolve in various areas, expansion of cross-cultural contacts enables to learn the specifics of mindsets and behaviours from another culture, ensuring successful practical diplomacy and business. Russian and Chinese cultures closely intersect historically, therefore joint projects are essential from both political and social points of view.
