Presentation of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy at the MGIMO University
On May 22nd, the MGIMO University welcomed a soiree of Slavic music and writing entitled “Kaleidoscope of cultures: when dialogue engenders unity” organized by the MGIMO Alumni Association jointly with Sokolniki MEC and the Bolshoi Theater of Russia.
The soiree featured a series of unusual events. The presentation was opened by Valery Vorobyov, Vice-Chancellor on the MGIMO Human Resources Policy, Yuri Vyazemsky, the author and host of the Umniki i Umnitsy (Messrs and Misses Know-Alls) IQ-quiz show, and Alexey Shaburov, President of Sokolniki MEC, General Manager of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy greeted the guests and opened the amazing program.

The guests – intelligentsia, government authorities and the art elite of Russia – got acquainted with the exposition of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, which is going to be held on September 16-21 in Saint Petersburg. They also enjoyed a fantastic laser show.
Accompanied by the amazing contrabass quintet of the Russian National Orchestra the most famous calligraphers of Russia and Belarus conducted their master-classes. Pyotr Chobitko, Pavel Semchenko, and Nikolai Taranov demonstrated their skills and gave many an interview. Master Chen Wenfu, a special guest of the presentation, also showed his unique skill of writing calligraphy, generating genuine interest both in Russian masters and in all visitors. The MGIMO Concert Hall featured an author’s performance by Aleksandr Pravednikov, a Bolshoi Theatre composer, who presented his Russian Album.
