Pokras Lampas launches new exhibition in Moscow
Today Pokras Lampas is arguably the most renowned Russian artist internationally. On April 10 Hyundai Motorstudio brand gallery has launched his exhibition titled Line. Fusion. Future.
Pokras’ works include the largest calligraphy in the world, commissioned in 2015 on the roof of Krasny Oktyabr plant in Moscow, and decoration of the Palace of Italian Civilization in Rome two years later. This year Lampas’ (aka Arseny Pyzhenkov) exhibition introduces a future induced project, embracing integration of cultures and onset of the new linguistic systems.
The artist has rearranged his own future manifesto, using elements of all writing styles – Cyrillic, Latin, characters and Vyaz – on various surfaces in the gallery, including Hyundai cars, windows, circus steps and wall mounts, creating several objets d’art located in different areas of Hyundai Motorstudio.
Pokras Lampas presents the future as a new language and a new writing, which have synthesized global cultural codes into a single mass of visual images, signs and phonetics. This art project in Moscow is his attempt to immerse its viewers into the space where street art and calligraphy serve as mediums in the conversation about the nearest future.
The unique project housed by Hyundai Motorstudio will continue until May 6, 2018, admitting free of charge.
Line. Fusion. Future is held under the auspices of the Museum of Russian Impressionism, with #PokrasHyundai as an official hash tag of the event.
