New Trends of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy

New projects within the framework of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy have been launched today.

The new Mystery of the Sign exposition has been created on the aesthetic and historical diversity of the national calligraphy schools of the world. Beside original works of art from twenty-six countries, the visitors will be able to enjoy calligraphic installations and performances, ancient manuscripts and rare letters, handwritten books and applied calligraphic art. Calligraphers from different continents will show their skills at master classes. Many educational events and meetings are to be held during the exhibition.

The Mystery of the Sign exposition will include presentation of a new project: creation of a monument dedicated to the world writing systems under the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” (“Out of many – one”), which is planned to open in 2010 in Paris. This unique piece of art is an integral handmade panel consisting of separate modules, which represent the writing systems of the UN member states. The project involves a task force of calligraphers representing one of the participating countries. The panel will represent the unity and diversity of the world cultural space. Allegedly, the project will be held under the auspices of UNESCO.
