Local residents, invited to join the competition, are no strangers to what Russian calligraphy is. Painstakingly drawn letters may grace any message or postcard. In this very instance participants will be challenged to rewrite a selected text.

The contest starts at 12 and is admission free; the only prerequisite is to have a pen.

While judges will be busy evaluating the works, poets will recite their pieces to the audience. Winners are to get small cups and nice gifts, said Galina Bozhkova, head of the Poets Club.
