Director's welcoming address
If you name your museum the World Calligraphy Museum, you have to assume considerable responsibility. A 21st century museum is an international cultural and educational centre, as well as an open creative space where artists and spectators, masters and disciples can easily swap roles. It is a unique laboratory which affords visitors boundless insights, both historical and contemporary. Such reality shifts affect all our senses: every country has its special aroma, music, symbols and imagery … Festivals and exhibitions organized by our staff are real transformations on a universal and personal scale engendering a sense of breathtaking beauty. Masters of calligraphy inscribe new fascinating chapters into the history of our museum. As of today, the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy exhibits more than 5000 unique calligraphy artworks from 70 countries.
