Opening Soon

Pavilion set-up began at Yaroslav’s Court for the 3rd International Exhibition of Calligraphy to take place from September 10th–12th, 2010.

Earlier the International Calligraphy Exhibition was held in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Velikiy Novgorod will be the final Russian city. The Exhibition will continue to Paris with New York, Jerusalem and Shanghai along the route.

Visitors will get acquainted with the masterpieces of world calligraphy from more than 40 countries. The exposition will include calligraphic paintings, tools and materials for writing, and unique exhibits including those put in the Guinness Book of Records. The basis of the Novgorod exposition is the Sacred Calligraphy collection. Exhibits will be placed in a pavilion with 1,400 sq. m. in total to be installed at Yaroslav’s Court.

The business programme will be full of workshops with famous calligraphers, concerts and national cuisine tasting. In the Novgorod museum-reserve a thematic exposition will also be prepared. It reveals the features of written language, the emergence of which is associated with the history of Novgorod. Beside this a wakeboarding tournament and wake-surfing show with famous riders from Russia and Europe will take place on the Volkhov River during the exhibition. Wakeboarding can be compared with water-skiing with the athlete (rider) behind a boat on a special wakeboard performing stunts on the water. Such an event will be held in our city for the first time.

On the eve of the International Calligraphy Exhibition on September 9th, Velikiy Novgorod will see a presentation and an exhibition of selected calligraphic works.
