Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy will take part in Art Retro exhibition on New Arbat

Between October 6 and 8 the Moscow Government Headquarters (New Arbat 36) will hold a unique exhibition of art and antiquities dubbed Art Retro, themed Through the Centuries. The best collectors, artists and designers will put on display their unique sets and masterpieces, which date back to as early as the ancient world and through to the present days. The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy will feature the best pieces from its collection that comprises over 3000 unique calligraphy artworks from all over the world.

Between 13:00 and 14:00 on October 7 a broad nib calligraphy workshop will be held for the exhibition guests by Ekaterina Orfanova, calligraphy artist, designer and a teacher in the National Calligraphy School. Guided by the experts, its participants will do exciting exercises with broad nib and discover the most vivid scripts emerging in various historical eras, as well as learn the tools for each of the historical styles.

Another workshop is scheduled for October 8, 13:00 – 14:00, also held by Ekaterina Orfanova and dubbed Italic Based Penmanship, which will focus on writing letters, from simple to more complex components first, and complete letters in the end. Besides it will grant an opportunity to know more about Italic, the historical writing style that dates back to the Renaissance era, and broad nib practices.
