An Exhibition of Calligraphy In Ulan-Ude
An exhibition of Buryat-Mongolian calligraphy called «Tengeriin besheg» (A letter of Heaven) will open at the Sampilov Republican Art Museum on February 24th. This is a unique opportunity to attend master classes and order any inscriptions from famous calligraphers of Greater Mongolia.
The art of calligraphy preserves and supports cultural and religious traditions of different countries. At the same time, it brings together people of different faiths from multinational Russia and other countries, reveals fellowship in spiritual and moral foundations of human civilization. The exhibition will run until March 6th, 2015.
Calligraphy is a branch of art. Calligraphy is also called the art of beautiful handwriting. The modern definition of calligraphy reads as follows: «the art of designing characters in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner.» Modern calligraphy is quite varied: from domestic handwritten inscriptions on cards to high art, where the expression of a handwritten character does not always have to generate clear letterforms. Classical calligraphy significantly differs from font compositions and non-standard handwritten forms, although a calligrapher has be able to do both and even more; letters were formed in such forms throughout history, but nevertheless they are still fluid and spontaneous, and always get born at the moment of writing.
