The Opening of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy

As you might know, the Japanese and Arabs appreciate letters, either written on paper or embroidered on silk. They are valued as high as the pictures of illustrious artists. Till present time calligraphy in Russia has been neglected. But now things have changed. The first and yet the only museum of calligraphy in Russia has been opened in Sokolniki park. The exposition contains over 80 calligraphic artworks from all over the world. And Slavonic and European manuscripts, limited editions of rare handwritten works and ancient writing utensils, etc. The permanent exposition will be available from August 2.
