The National School of Calligraphy to Open in Moscow

This November, a long-expected event will take place in Moscow. The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy reports Russia’s first National School of Calligraphy is to be opened soon.

Visitors of all the three International Exhibitions of Calligraphy have been firing at the museum management with phone calls and letters urging them to launch the project. On November 17th, 2010, the opening ceremony will be held, attended by officials and federal media.

Yuri Koverdyayev is to be the School Curator. He is a renowned Moscow calligrapher, member of the Union of Artists of Russia, famous for participating in the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, expert in copperplate print calligraphic portraits and birch bark calligraphy. In addition, Yuri Koverdyayev is a designer of securities.

The National School of Calligraphy will be operating on a permanent basis for all comers starting November 18th with Yu. Koverdyayev and other professional calligraphers as teachers.
