Calligraphy for everyone

Last Saturday, February 11th, the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy hosted another charity event. This time it welcomed members of the Northern Moscow Regional Organization of the All-Russian Handicap Association.

It’s all thanks to the efforts of the Organization’s chairwoman Antonina Bastrykina that handicapped people have a chance to live a full, active life, take active interest in arts and can afford attending cultural events. The visitors were offered a museum tour during which they could see the works of contemporary calligraphy masters from all over the world. During the tour Ms Bastrykina shared that she cared very much about handwriting and advised those in her care to seek solace in writing down their everyday feelings and ideas on paper. Hence participation in the workshop that followed the tour became a nice chance for the visitors to learn the art of fine writing, both its theory and practice. Thanks to the efforts of the brilliant teacher Yelena Bobkova by the end of the workshop every participant managed to write down his or her name in an authentic calligraphy hand. Joy and happiness on everyone’s faces, applauses for the teacher and each other and words of gratitude to the founder of the museum and its charity programme, Alexey Shaburov – this is how the visit terminated.
