December, 13, 14, 2008. “Classical and contemporary calligraphy”. “Easel and applied calligraphy”. Master classes given by the member of the Russian Union of artists Georgy Kozubov.
The art of beautiful handwriting born many centuries ago, today is given a second birth, and may be used in different and at times strange spheres. In the strict limits of time Georgy Kozubov tried to tell the fullest story about the interconnection of classics and modern art. No doubt, his master-class will remain in the memory of visitors as the most informative event within the frame of business programme of International Exhibition of calligraphy.
The master spoke about the easel and applied calligraphy as well.
The applied calligraphy is different types of embroidery, calligraphy engraving on household appliances. The easel calligraphy is, as Mr. Kozubov says, an independent style of art. The easel art, in general, is defined as “a graphic (calligraphy) creation, which is self-consistent and free from any pragmatic use, and not included in the ensemble as a core subject”. The easel art works are usually taken apart of the environment, and their meaning can not be changed when moved to other conditions.
So, no wonder that this master-class attracted so many different people who were both the connoisseurs of art and ordinary passers-by. The demonstration of calligraphy process and very finished creative works accompany the fascinating narrative of the master. His wife Nina Kozubova, the calligrapher and teacher took active participation in these master classes.
