Calligraphic Ball

Yevgeny Dobrovinsky invited Sokolniki MEC representatives to visit the 2nd Calligraphic Ball demonstrating the works of classical and free design calligraphy on January 20-27. Young designers and artists fond of calligraphy present a kind of a creative report of Dobrovinsky and Gulitov Summer Schools’ work. The exhibition will be interesting for both the professional community and connoisseurs of the art of the beautiful and neat handwriting in its modern interpretation.

The exposition includes the following sections:

  • Students’ Selected Works
    The best works of calligraphy schools’ students in 2004-2007
  • Wine School
    A collective art-project organized in September 2007 in the village of Lyubimovka (Sevastopol) resulting in a plethora of logotypes and etiquettes for exclusive Crimea wine brands.
  • Classics
    Works of the students of Yevgeny Dobrovinsky’s Moscow School of Classic Calligraphy dedicated to studies and practical application of traditional calligraphic rules.
  • Creativity
    Personal project works of calligraphic schools’ students.

During the official opening ceremony, all visitors were invited to draw the decorations for the Christmas Tree erected in the centre of the hall. The process engulfed the old and the young.

On January 23rd, a loving mother brought her son to Maestro Dobrovinsky. Sasha Fyodorov, the talented boy, tries his hand in calligraphy but cannot find the right school to sharpen his talent. A representative of Sokolniki MEC suggested coming to the opening ceremony on February 15th to find what he is looking for and get professional support.
